I have read many opinions from a lot of Web designers and I have discovered that they do not use FrontPage. In fact, they advice other designers to not use this program. I like FrontPage, but I know that there are some text editors, which are said to be better.
So, after you have selected a good text editor, you have to write the codes. With a good one and also with the help of some plugins or widgets that you can use, you will be able to write the code in no time. Still, you have to be inspired to create a nice design of the blog. My opinion is to not place too many ads on the main page, nor too many Flash elements. Also, the blinking text could be left aside. One more thing: regarding the text and the ads, there are sites which once you access them, instead of showing you the main page of the site, page that you might even know, if you enter regularly on the site, the site shows you another page, with a commercial in most of the cases. This is extremely annoying and it must not be used by any Web developer.
Other sites, instead of ads, present a short video with their products which can be offered on Valentine’s Day, for example. It is not a paid commercial. It is a video with several products from that site where you enter, presented in another way, then there are on the site. This can be considered an ad, but this is not paid. Here is what I am saying. If in some cases, the advertiser can come with the idea of placing the ad at the beginning, when the user loads the site, and you have nothing to say, since your income comes mostly from him, then you will have to obey him. But if the ad is created by you, in any form, the ad should be placed immediately after the user clicks on your URL. The user wants to see the content on your page, not the ad. A terrible thing would be to not provide the Skip button, which I understood it’s extremely important to be placed at the top or at the bottom of the ad, in case the user doesn’t want to see the ad. It is illegal not to place it or something like this. This is my opinion also: I don’t like to enter some sites and see ads after ads, when I enter a new page, to see other ads and so on.
If you don’t want to lose your readers, you better not place all those ads at the beginning. You can use shorte videos, but let the user to click on the Play button, don’t play the ad, without his consent. You will lose him as your potential customer and you don’t want that.
After you have created the site, thus written the codes, you must test the site to see if it’s working on almost all the browsers. I know that there are more than 15 browsers (I talk only about the most important ones) and you have to test the compatibility of your site on many computers using different browsers.11
